Who am I?

We had an assignment in English the other day to introduce ourselves to the class. It took a lot of courage, but I feel like I wrote a truly unique piece about myself. Enjoy....

I believe that you can tell the most about a person by their biggest fear, which is why I’ll share mine. The things that scares me the most, are the things I don’t know. I don’t know what the future will hold for me; if it will be fun and exciting, or slow and average. For this reason, I work hard to keep doors open and give my say in what happens. Religion also makes me anxious, for it requires a leap of faith towards things I don’t know, but have to believe in. Whether I make that jump or not is my biggest struggle. Finally, when I do not know that there is a ginormous spider crawling up my leg, it freaks me out when I look down and see it. Same goes for any bug on my arm, leg, or wherever it may be lurking.
I am an athlete. I like to play soccer, and go on long runs; but most of all, I love to ski. Every weekend, I go skiing, and this year I’m on the patrol. Moving on, I listen to music constantly when I’m not at school. I enjoy Phoenix, Kings of Leon, U2, and many others. In this world, the only things I truly love and enjoy, are the things that are real. TV is not genuine; gossip isn’t either. The places I’ve been, and the things that I’ve done are real. I ski down mountains and run up soccer fields; I’ve flown through the skies and sailed across lakes; I’ve driven across the country, swam in both oceans; and let me tell you, it’s all better than the illusion we try set for ourselves, that what really matters is The Bachelorette, who wears what, and which of your friends has had the most boyfriends. I believe that the grass under my feet and the sun overhead will always better than the silly bands on my wrist and the make-up I may put on my face, because they are real. At least I know the difference, and that is what’s important.
